Web Shop Photoshoot: Behind the Scenes

Posted on Sep 1, 2014

It was 90 degrees, the sun was blaring, and all hands were on deck for our two-day web shop photoshoot. In response to enthusiasm over our web shop, and requests for more product availability, we’ve decided to greatly expand the breadth of our online offerings, and what better way to celebrate great products than with exceptional photography? Thanks to a lot of iced coffee and a fantastic team, we’re happy to say that the results are beautiful. Here’s a behind the scenes look at what went into our photoshoot.

Taking the advice of our photographer, Wieden+Kennedy designer Randall Garcia, we opted to capture the beautiful light of late summer in the photos, setting up shop on our live rooftop and making use of a scrim to diffuse the full sun. Our set was comprised of a few simple props – backdrops, tables, cloths, and botanicals. The tricky piece was to construct a set that seemed like an interior space, which required creating false walls to change the look and feel of the shots. Our good friend and local maker Anthony Giltner took charge of constructing an easel-like stand, and everyone chipped into the construction of the false walls. Once everything was in place, Randall really made the magic happen behind the lens.

Check out the process from start to finish below! We can’t wait to share the final photography with you.
