Use a Moss Pole to provide extra support for any climbing plant, especially aroids like Philodendron and Monstera species. In their natural habitats, these plants climb up trees in their search for more light, latching on to the moist bark as they climb with aerial roots. We make our moss poles by hand, wrapping sturdy bamboo stakes with a thick layer of moisture-retentive sphagnum moss to create the perfect climbing environment indoors. Moss poles encourage mature foliage, because as your plant climbs, it will sense the support and naturally produce larger leaves.
To use, gently work the exposed bamboo portion of the moss pole as deep as possible into the soil near the base of your plant, taking care not to damage the root ball. Gently tie the vining stems of your plant to the moss pole, so that the root nodes (where leaf meets stem) makes contact with the pole. Keep the moss pole moist at all times; in order for mature foliage to form, the aerial roots must grow into the moss pole.
Our moss poles are available in your choice of 2 feet or 3 feet lengths. The diameter of the moss portion is about 3".
I ordered this Moss Pole to support the amazing monstera that is taking over my living room. I could not be happier with this product or the shipping. My goal was to create support for the plant that blended into the plant and pot without sticking out like a sore thumb. Accomplished! It really is beautiful, and I'm ready to by a second one.
This is my first moss pole And I’m using it to stake up my monstera adansonii. So far so good! The only issue is that it dries out a lot faster than I was expecting. I didn’t do a long soak before using, but it has required a daily spray down to not dry out completely. So it’s higher maintenance than I expected, but it’s no fault of the product. I’m looking forward to seeing my monstera take root on it! It is much more aesthetically pleasing than other moss poles I’ve seen, and the price is reasonable.
