Asparagus Fern Kokedama
To make our Asparagus Fern Kokedama, we bind the roots of these lacy-leafed houseplants in bright green sphagnum moss. Though not true ferns, these members of the Asparagus genus get their nickname from the plumes of delicate frond-like foliage that characterize these textural plants.
Simply translated, kokedama means "moss ball," and these pieces are our take on the traditional Japanese bonsai practice of the same name. Sometimes called string gardens, each piece can sit in a shallow dish or hang with the attached fishing line loop, making them lovely additions to any window or tabletop.
Asparagus Ferns thrive in bright indirect light. To water, simply soak your kokedama in a sink or basin until thoroughly saturated. Includes detailed care instructions.
We make each piece by hand, choosing from our diverse collection of Asparagus Ferns, such as A. retrofractus, A. plumosus and A. densiflorus. The images are intended to show the variety in appearance in these special plants. Kokedama Dish sold separately.
Small: 4" - 5" moss ball diameter
