Alocasia cuprea 'Red Secret'
Alocasia cuprea 'Red Secret' has reddish, purple leaves that appear metallic and opalescent. Mature leaves are deeply ridged with dark, almost black veins. This aroid is endemic to Borneo, an island in Southeast Asia. Borneo is warm and humid, and the island can experience seasonal drought, so while this Alocasia might seem intimidating to grow, it's adaptable to varied care as long as temperatures aren't too cold and the air isn't too dry.
• Light: Bright, indirect light
• Water: Water when the top 1-2" of soil feel dry. This plant doesn't want to be completely dry or very wet.
• Considerations: This plant prefers higher humidity and stable temperatures. It's common for these plants to drop its lower leaves; don't worry! Like other Alocasia, this plant can go dormant and resprout when conditions are more favorable.
