Arachnoides simplicior - Shield Fern
Arachnoides simplicior is a beautiful fern with large, triangle fronds that glow bright green and yellow from the center veins. Because of its waxy, evergreen leaves, Arachnoides simplicior is sometimes called Holly Fern. Native to China and Japan, this fern grows along streambanks in the wild, so it loves moisture. However, it has adapted to survive short periods of drought, so forgetting to water once will not kill this fern.
Although hardy in USDA Zones 7-9, we love this slow-growing fern as an easy, reliable houseplant.
• Light: Medium to bright indirect light. Protect from direct sun.
• Water: Water when the top 1" of soil feels barely moist. Don't let fully dry out.
• Considerations: These ferns are easy to grow and hard to kill when given bright light and regular water.
