Asparagus Fern Kokedama
To make our Asparagus Fern Kokedama, we bind the roots of these lacy-leafed houseplants in bright green sphagnum moss. Though not true ferns, these members of the Asparagus genus get their nickname from the plumes of delicate frond-like foliage that characterize these textural plants.
Simply translated, kokedama means "moss ball," and these pieces are our take on the traditional Japanese bonsai practice of the same name. Sometimes called string gardens, each piece can sit in a shallow dish or hang with the attached fishing line loop, making them lovely additions to any window or tabletop.
• Light: Bright, indirect light
• Water: When soil at base of plant feels barely moist, submerge entire mount in room temperature water until fully saturated
• Considerations: Asparagus ferns love humidity. Mist your kokedama regularly.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We'll make your Asparagus Kokedama to order, choosing from our diverse collection of Asparagus species (such as A. retrofractus, A. plumosus and A. densiflorus). No two pieces are alike, and yours will have its own unique shape, size and personality - expect this natural variation from the photos, and feel free to include any preferences with your order.
Moss ball measure approximately 5" - 6" in diameter.
Fern Kokedama Gift
I ordered a Fern Kokedama for a friend. She said it arrived in wonderful condition and the picture she sent of it looked very pretty. Good customer service, too.
Enjoying my fern
I wasn't sure what to expect but my expectations were surpassed. The fern arrived in excellent condition. I feel that we'll be together for a long time. I would order again. The packing was done with much care and the material used was different. I'm figuring out what I could do with it.
So unique! Truly love this little guy!
