Dischidia pectinoides is a strange and beautiful member of the genus that loves to climb. While most of the light green leaves on this epiphytic species are quite small, the plant occasionally develops larger "ant leaves," named for the symbiotic relationship with ants this plant has developed in its natural habitat. These giant, hollow leaves are inhabited by the ants, whose waste products, in turn, fertilize the plant. Dischidia pectinoides is a collection-worthy plant whose intriguing story makes a great conversation piece – and don't worry, though it's sometimes called an "Ant Plant," it won't attract ants indoors!
• Light: Bright, indirect light
• Water: Water when the top 2" of soil feels dry
• Considerations: Dischidia ruscifolia can dry moderately between waterings. Slightly puckered foliage means the plant is thirsty
