This possibly undescribed orchid grows tight clusters of short, terete leaves, giving the plant a spikey hedgehog appearance. Maxillaria sp. aff. minuta grows small, dark red blooms close to the base of the leaves. Native to parts of Brazil, this plant's unusual appearance is the perfect way to bring the tropics indoors.

PLANT CARE

• Light: Bright, indirect light. Some direct light okay.
• Water: Prefers frequent waterings (every 1-2 days) in the summer, and slightly less frequent waterings (every 2-4 days) in the winter. Soak orchids in room-temperature water or run water over the roots until fully saturated.
• Considerations: This plant is free-flowering throughout the year.
