Moss Pole

$ 18.00

Use a Moss Pole to provide extra support for any climbing plant, especially aroids like Philodendron and Monstera species. In their natural habitats, these plants climb up trees in their search for more light, latching on to the moist bark as they climb with aerial roots. We make our moss poles by hand, wrapping sturdy bamboo stakes with a thick layer of moisture-retentive sphagnum moss to create the perfect climbing environment indoors. Moss poles encourage mature foliage, because as your plant climbs, it will sense the support and naturally produce larger leaves.

To use, gently work the exposed bamboo portion of the moss pole as deep as possible into the soil near the base of your plant, taking care not to damage the root ball. Gently tie the vining stems of your plant to the moss pole, so that the root nodes (where leaf meets stem) makes contact with the pole. Keep the moss pole moist at all times; in order for mature foliage to form, the aerial roots must grow into the moss pole.

Our moss poles are available in your choice of 2 feet or 3 feet lengths. The diameter of the moss portion is about 3".

I have a monster of a variegated pothos that has been vining for years, in desperate need of support. The moss pole is so functional in encouraging the plants continued growth and is absolutely beautiful. I love how it smells like a rainstorm when I mist and water it. So beautiful.

I love it. I have a young Monstera Adansonii that is cuddling up to it as we speak. I am looking forward to the Monstera climbing it as it grows. It arrived promptly, in good condition, and seems to be doing well with regular misting.

This thing is truly a work of art. Hoping it will give some direction to my crazy monstera deliciousa! If anything, it draws your eyes to the plant it’s guiding and I love the look of it. As my monstera grows I plan to buy a few more. Not a great picture because the pole is pretty long and I was taking a picture of a succulent lol but you get the idea.
