Philodendron 'McColley's Finale'

$ 28.00

Philodendron 'McColley's Finale' is a beautiful hybrid Philodendron that has large leaves that emerge an electric reddish-orange before fading to green. Rather than vining, this is a so-called "self-heading" Philodendron, meaning that it grows in a dense clump that is sturdy enough to hold itself upright without additional support. This easy to care for aroid is great for beginners, and for any spot needing a splash of bright color.

 Light: Low to medium indirect light
• Water: Water when the top 1-2" of soil dries out
• Considerations: Choose a pot with drainage and decrease watering in winter

You'll get a healthy Philodendron 'McColley's Finale' that meets our rigorous quality standards in a 6" nursery pot. No two plants are alike, and yours will have its own unique shape, size and personality; expect this natural variation from the photos.

A new favorite in my collection

I've had mine since late March and really enjoy having this plant in my collection. It is a fairly fast grower for being such a large-leafed and low/moderate light plant. The new leaves on it are even more vibrant than the picture Pistils has and the almost chocolatey brown undertones the leaves get as they transition to green are gorgeous. Pistils always ships their plants with care. I got this plant with healthy foliage and roots. However, shipping is hard on plants, and the new leaves on this plant are fragile and prone to ripping. Be gentle when unpacking the plant and expect that there might be some leaf damage from the trip. I also found that the soil medium the growers used was dense and really held onto moisture. Sometimes the soil mixes that work well in greenhouse conditions aren't great for the lower light conditions in our homes, so with this one you may want to opt to repot it sooner than the recommended two-weeks.

Larger plant with more leaves than I expected. Several new leaves are about to emerge. I appreciate the care with which it was potted and mailed.
