Staghorn Fern in Vanda Basket
Staghorn ferns are members of the Platycerium genus, named for the shape of their unique antler-like fronds. As epiphytes grow naturally in the crooks of tree trunks, these ferns are ideal candidates for planting in sphagnum moss, as they require little root space to thrive. The shallow design of these hanging wooden vanda baskets provides a perfect wide open space to let air reach the roots of each plant, and allows the roots of the plant (and its pups) to easily exit through the sides of the basket as the fern grows.
Staghorn ferns thrive in bright, indirect light. To water, simply soak the entire basket in a sink or basin of water until thoroughly saturated. Alternatively, place the plant in the shower and spray with room-temperature water for 2-3 minutes. Includes detailed care instructions. For more information, check out our Staghorn Care Guide.
