We love seeing the plants we commonly think of as houseplants growing in an environment that allows them to grow to their full potential, whether that’s their native habitat or an urban botanical garden. That’s why, on a recent visit to Maui, Hawaii, we were so delighted to discover the Kula Botanical Garden, as it’s the best of both worlds.

Kula Botanical Gardens started in 1969 as a destination for visitors to enjoy the plants of Hawaii. Nine acres of paths connect numerous collections of plant species, from Bromeliads to Alocasias, Proteas, Staghorn Ferns and beyond.

If you find yourself in Maui, a walk through the gardens on the gentle slopes of the Haleakala is not to be missed. Until then, here’s a collection of a few favorite photos we took while visiting Kula Botanical Garden. We hope you find yourself transported to the tropics.
